This is such a hidden gem. I have gotten sushi delivered from here before and loved it so I decided to go here for my birthday dinner today. My group and I had the best time. The hibachi chef was awesome. The food was delicious. They even asked if we had any food allergies which I thought was very considerate even though none of us do. I loved that I got to sit at a table with just my group instead of being stuck around a bunch of people I don’t know. I am also excited to be hungry again to eat more of the leftovers lol. Thank you Kyoto for making my birthday special. I will be continuing to come here for special occasions :)

Love all the food. Rice was a lil bit salty might be the way I taste. Everyone has a different taste no big deal for me. Been here last year but got sushi before not this time wanted to eat rice and try some other menu (Hibachi combo meal)

I want to like this place more but they are just too inconsistent. Both service and food have been hit or miss. My parents liked this place so I've been eating here for years now. There have been times when the food has been good, but usually it's just ok now. The sushi has been bland and mostly flavorless. I used to get the sushi party platters and originally thought they were worth it. Now is on par with grocery store quality. I've only ordered habachi at the table, so I can't speak on the take out. That's been more consistent quality/taste wise and you get large portions. The performances have been hit or miss, and once they didn't make my father's order. He should've said something sooner, but how do you mess that up? Sometimes it's hard to get them on the phone for take out orders, unless you want to pay more for the privilege of ordering online. They are pleasant when you're there, and they do get busy. I'll still find or order here, but it's not my go to in the area anymore.

We dropped in for lunch. It was good. The staff was professional and attentive. The food is priced in line with current market prices but their drinks are pretty pricey. I would return for the local convenience and their sushi but this is not my first choice for hibachi.

Sushi lover- Kyoto Japanese Steakhouse has the best raw fish in the Kalamazoo/portage area (not fishy at all) at an affordable price. I have tried several sushi restaurants in the area and Kyoto is by far my favorite so far. Working through trying all their signature rolls (lobster roll, black spider roll, salmon lover roll, all 10/10) but absolutely love their 3 simple roll sushi lunch combo (my favorites are spicy tuna, shrimp tempura, & the Alaska roll). Their miso soup is absolutely devine. No complaints with their ginger house salad, crab cheese wontons, shumai, or gyoza, or fried rice. I look forward to trying something new off their menu every week, although hard not to repeat orders when everything so far is delicious!! I usually get takeout or delivery and their food still remains fresh. They have only forgot my miso soup & ginger salad once.
